| Biography: | My name is Rudy Demanett, I'm 37 years old and have a dog named Neuman who has grown up at Oak Grove. I'm a local to Pasadena, and a lover of disc golf. Disc golf has been in my peripheral vision since I was a teenager, looking up to my elders from Sierra Madre who got me into the sport back in 2003. My first disc ever was a teebird which I still bag to this day. Although I initially didn't take disc golf seriously, it was a staple amongst the activities of this San Gabriel Valley dweller. What drew me to it was the counter culture aspect of freedom and the sense of peace I found on the course in my sometimes troubling adolescence. For the last 4 plus years I've found myself drawn to that same sense of peace at the disc golf course and have dedicated a good portion of my time to improving my own personal game as well as the mounting efforts to improve my community. My love for the sport seems to grow as time goes on and my efforts to bring Oak Grove its due attention hopefully reflect that love. At this point I can't fully describe myself without mentioning my life in recovery. I have been sober for over 5 years which has enlightened me to the fact that being of service is a way of life. I work as a drug and alcohol counselor helping our community find the help they need in overcoming active addiction. Being a part of something that will help this sport appreciate in value feels like the right thing to do. | ||||||||||||||||
